winter sun

I'm off to the sunshine. I know. Dreaming of a new beach wardrobe...this pom pom basket, sandals by K Jacques or J crew sale, this cover up, this playsuit or this one, or a new bikini by Varley or Topshop. My little man will be rocking bright coral. Have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
Thank you for reading, see you in 2015

the bikini search

In search of a new strapless bikini and I keep coming back to these designs by Marysia Swim....also like this Varley London print or this retro Topshop number. The Outnet is always a winner for swimwear, lots of discounted designers like Melissa Odabash. If you would rather have straps I spied this striped triangle one in Cos and they are offering 25% off for new US customers. Check out the bikini chat on twitter too...

beach and bikini dreaming

A New York reader told me yesterday that she doesn't get dressed until she has read her daily dose of secretstylist. Bless. She might not be sporting this one...

I'm dreaming of wearing these bikinis and kaftans...which are in the sale fyi...it may seem like a ridiculous thing to buy but I've banged about Heidi Klein lots of times, this is a great time of year to pick up a high quality bikini at a good price. Barneys is the only place I've found in New York which stocks good swimwear out of season - do you know anywhere else? There are a few beachy fashion sites which I love browsing on, Beach Tomato Shack and Style-Passport...dream away...

Silk-gorgette short kaftan - Tallulah & Hope - 70 GBP (from 180)
Marrakech white bikini - Heidi Klein - 90 GBP (from 180)
Sugar Hill triangle bikini - Heidi Klein - 87 GBP (from 175)
Hero stalings kaftan - Tallulah & Hope - 100 GBP (from 200)
Greek sandals - Beach Tomato Shack - 140 GBP
Leather bag - vida vida at Style-Passport - 55 GBP I found a similar one here in NYC
Pink hero kaftan - Tallulah & Hope - 100 GBP (from 200)
Plum bikini - Heidi Klein - 87 GBP (from 175)
Zebra beach towel - Opening Ceremony - USD 225

online shopping...the best bikinis

As it verges on rain outside my smug self is dreaming of the trip to Miami and the Bahamas next week. You have permission to delete me now, but in case you are also venturing off somewhere warm for Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year, feast your eyes on these gorgeous bikinis from Heidi Klein. Yep, they are a little pricey but I love wearing mine, they last and the cut makes your confidence soar. Its free international shipping until Sunday 20th...

the clemster

So my crush on the Hendry girls and their style continues. Whilst at Rosie and Sevi's (ridiculously amazing) wedding I caught up with her sister Clemmie and had to put this pic on the blog. She looks so 60s chic in her stripe bikini, round glasses and floppy hat. Get the look...bikini from Accessorize (similar one here), sunglasses from Chanel and hat from TK Maxx. Watch out for all things 60s in the coming months, it is set to be a big trend for Autumn/Winter and beyond.

nude is rude opens boutique in lan kwai fong

I'm a big fan of Marisa's designs so I was very happy to hear that she was opening a Nude is Rude boutique. I posted here last November when she launched her label. I love the colours, fabrics and simple styles, which can be dressed up or down depending on your mood. Her collection is perfect for this season - I am contemplating the bright blue one shoulder dress and tempted by a subtle orange number. The doors opened yesterday so get there quick before the Hong Kong crowds descend. She also stocks the lovely Cochine, gorgeous Niin jewels and sexy Kiribati bikinis. Nude is Rude, G/F, No. 7, Lan Kwai Fong, Central, Hong Kong.

p.s see you at the Vintage sale tonight, Tacina promises she has some goodies...details here

introducing nude is rude

Of course you've booked your Oyster 655 to sail round the islands off Phuket this Christmas. You need outfits for said trip. A mix of glamour and comfort is the key to stylish yachting attire. I've found you a brand new boutique which is ideal for holidays, and perfect for when you get home too. Marisa Zeman has launched her own label Nude is Rude, we met up in her showroom and I wasn't intending to buy anything, 2 hours later and whoops. I know a few people who have done the same. Love her stuff, perfect for posing on the pontoon, by the pool/beach bar/club la la. I found outfit upon outfit, from cosy soft cottons in great shapes to slinky silk dresses, foxy jumpsuits (I'm in heaven) and kaftans in fabulous Matthew Williamson-style prints. Her prices are spot on, from around HK$580 upwards. The hot Kiribati bikinis by Bridie are also available, as are my favourite Cochine candles and scents by Kate. Jewellery and bags are coming soon, she's been a busy bee. Pop in before the masses find out and snap it all up. Call first on +852 2867 8842, 16/F, No.1 Lan Kwai Fong, Central, Hong Kong.

bathing beauties

It might be pouring with rain outside but these bathing beauties are guaranteed to cheer us up. I keep getting asked about 50's style swimwear, I tried to find some in Hong Kong but to no avail (please email me if you manage to hunt some down). Designer Samantha Sage has got the look just right, enough frills, enough style, good cut and great colours. Prices range from GBP 69.00. I dare you to wear the hat next time you are poolside...

bikini wardrobe

I could probably open a section within Selfridges with the amount of honeymoon wardrobe items I purchased before our trip. It could be entitled the "Oh my god, over excited, never going to be this thin again, got to look hot 100% all of the time department." The bikini wardrobe is as vital as the safari one. My strategy is naughty + nice, so purchase some really stylish pricey ones and then balance those with some cheaper ones which you don't mind trashing. Always ensure you have some strapless styles and buy them a little larger so you don't get the bottoms digging in, it will also allow for honeymoon eating habits. My naughty + nice selection consists of (from top):
- Heidi Klein Corsica Pleat Bikini (available online, GBP 135), perfect as it gives the cleavage a little boost, the colour is incredible too
- Vix Tortoise Off-White (available at Rush in HK, around HK$1000 or poss more but the boy may read this), you always need a creamy/white one and this is a really lovely shade and fabric
- Topshop Wide Stripe Bikini (available online, GBP 25), a nod to nautical, looks more expensive than it is and good with pale skin
- Topshop Frilly Bandeau Bikini (available online, GBP 25), great colour, strapless to avoid marks and the frills are fun, you have one on your bottom too to detract from the slight wobbles below it.

living in mordor

Honestly, what on earth is going on with this weather? It is driving us all insane, especially the Australians. How does one dress for 24 different seasons in one day, plus a dose of aircon, a dash of humidity and some manky spitty rain thrown in? The only solution is to have an enormous bag and stuff it full of clothing for all temperatures, luckily there are bargains to be enjoyed, so buy an expensive bag and save with these super sales:
Spring - Velvet's gorgeous tees and dresses at 70% off retail price (take cash), 21 April, 2-8pm, Loft Floor 53 Staunton Street, SoHo
Summer - Amandarling mega clearance sale, 70% off, 16-25 April, 11am-8pm, Ground Floor, 32 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central
Autumn (we simply don't do Winter darling) - Serenity Fair Cashmere Sale, 17 April, 11am-5pm, Azure, 29th Floor, Hotel LKF
