introducing sequence...another great ethical fashion label

The lovely Ariela previewed her new collection for Sequence this week in New York. Having worked in the fashion industry for years she decided to change direction and collaborate with artisans in her home town of El Salvador. Now she's helping the community, keeping ancient  techniques alive, and creating stylish accessories...she's a goodie (that's her, in the top right pic)....I love the gold braided necklaces/headbands and chunky cuffs...

I'm spotting a few ethical brands which are both stylish and doing some good in the world, so I had to share them with you. Love the collection at Edge of Ember, designed by Lynette Ong who works with local artisans in Asia. 10% of all proceeds go to the Ember Project which funds local charities, mainly helping women and children. Gorgeous pieces, ideal for layering, prices from 70 - 125 USD, plus she ships everywhere.

I read about Beach Candy on Sheer Luxe, loving their summery, breezy fabrics, perfect for floating about in on holiday. The collections are produced by charitable organisations in India which help people out of poverty, providing skills and support to those in need. save the date...melissa lo christmas show

I've always liked the simple, yet stunning jewellery which Melissa Lo creates, her pieces are perfect for day or evening, plus they make great gifts. She is hosting a Christmas Show next Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th December, at the Ben Brown Fine Arts Gallery in the Pedder Building from 11am to 7pm. You can justify your naughty purchases with the knowledge that you are helping a great cause, a percentage of the sales go to the Hong Kong Cancer Fund. great clothes, great cause

I receive a lot of lovely emails from stylish girls, and guys, and one of them caught my eye, an ex-Hong Konger who had come across a very thought provoking blog by Katy Molloy. Katy left the comforts of her London life and decided to venture to Cambodia to work with AFESIP to assist in their mission to stop human trafficking. Seriously admirable. I saw she was modeling some clothing which the local girls make and sell to help support themselves. Their stories are just incredible and it hits home just how much we have, how much we take for granted, and how much our lives revolve around ridiculous things, like the new must-have boot/holiday/jeans la la. I fully realise I am shooting myself in the foot here. Anyway, the clothes are fantastic, well priced and, more importantly, the profits go to a great cause. So I urge you to check them out and make a purchase, if not for you, then for the girls whose lives are not as blessed as ours. Amen. Sermon over.
