iris and ink pink suede midi skirt

New York winters are tough, really really tough! Pink suede skirts are totally impractical purchases when all you wear in -9 is Uniqlo thermals under jeans, gigantic jumpers, giant parkas, snow boots, 83 scarves and a bobble hat, but hey, just look at it. Yum.

leather skirts & & other stories soho

Love a leather skirt. Our British fave Marks and Spencer are stocking a great selection this year. Add a simple t-shirt or a chunky jumper, basically copy Alexa Chung. This Zara olive green, non-leather version is gorg too. Oh and & Other Stories has just opened in soho...have a great weekend x

palm print midi skirt by warehouse & facials at caudalie

Really pretty palm print at Warehouse, they do a top and dress too. Breaking news...I went for a facial at Caudalie. No wonder the waiting list is decades long, it was great, my skin is all glowy and dewey...or is that the humidity...anyway, if you are in need of a treat I would head to their Bleecker boutique.

gold is the new black

Ok I got a bit carried away with the gold theme. Just loving the GB team in the Olympics and their incredible gold rush this weekend, even Murray had a smile for us. We rock x

pixie market pink

Loving Pixie Market at the moment. Great designers and good prices. A bright pink romper with clashing coral sleeves? Yep. Pretty pink tank? Simple but effective. A pink peplum? If you are going to do the peplum you might as well be obvious about it. Bright pink wide leg trousers? For the brave. They have a shop in the east village and ship internationally for 15 USD.

its friday. go naked

I often feel slightly naked when I wear my blush jeans. I love them. I love blush coloured anything. It is the easiest and prettiest colour to mix with this seasons florals and brights. It rocks with black, and grey, and it can't help looking expensive. Get some.

hong kong style dilemma: how to wear pleats

I've recently been emailed and quizzed a lot by my styling clients about pleated skirts....and yep, they are tricky to wear, but pleats are a key trend for Spring/Summer so why not try them? Skirts in general are making a come back this year, and after our obsession with the dress and skinny trousers, isn't it nice to see a touch of ladylike dressing? So here are some options and ideas on how to wear your pleats...

Q: Can I wear them? A: Yes, try to mix them up with some of the bright colours which are out at the moment, or toughen the look up with a leather jacket or rocking heels
Q: Will I look like a granny? A: Nope, just make sure you don't wear court shoes, try platforms or on-trend heels (see below the blush pink pleats styled by My-Wardrobe), ballet pumps, which were seen on the catwalk, are only for the brave
Q: What do I wear them with? A: Nothing bulky or floaty on top, team with a white or grey t-shirt / slim blouse / colourful skinny belt / lightweight knits...keep it simple

Carrie Pleat Skirt from Whistles in a delicious pink, I guarantee this will be sold out soon!

Tick two trends with one item, a camel number from Zara

Simple black, easy for work and evenings out, from Topshop

...and if you fall in love with pleats then go for the whole look, I love this dress by Halston Heritage at My-Wardrobe

sneak peek: tory burch spring collection

I popped along to the Tory Burch spring press day today, I was really impressed with what I saw, some great prints, 70s style leather skirts, tan platforms, flares...exciting! I'll post more on my picks from the new collection soon but here is a sneak peek...

Love the bold orange, the leather skirt and the basket bag. Orange is going to be huge this season!

These nearly went in my handbag, just gorgeous! Large, statement jewellery will also be everywhere this year

Sorry the picture is a little dark but spot the patterned shorts, great little jacket and the tan wedges on the right

london update

Most of you are about to jump on a plane home to fffwwweeeeezing England. A few updates from the London scene: not enough cape wearing for my liking (such a gorgeous winter trend!), a lot of fur, especially hats (or was that just the Russians in Selfridges?), a sprinkling of chavs, lots of grumpy taxi drivers, gorgeous winter window displays and festive Christmas lights everywhere. I find London trips are great for stocking up on the staples, as well as discovering new shops. Lucy in Disguise, Lily Allen's new vintage store was one of those, defo worth a visit, and I finally found time to browse around Dover Street Market, plus I found a fabulous wedding dress boutique. Enjoy your trip, I'm jealous.com x

Staple 1: Is a leather skirt a staple? Whatever

Staple 2: Snood, obviously I bought it in grey, not cream, from GAP

Staple 3: Heat tech tops from Uniqlo, you can actually wear them without looking like your gran

Staple 4: Cargo skinnys from GAP, again

Staple 5: Stock up on new French Soles

Staple 6: Slick and simple riding boots from Office

Staple 7: Long jewel coloured leather gloves from Jigsaw, why not?

Pretty lights on Marylebone High Street

Lucy in Disguise in Covent Garden

I found a great leather skirt there, some well priced vintage dresses and stylish hats, they hire out a lot of items and host girlie pre-party pampering evenings. There is an area for boys too, with one of those x box things to distract them from nagging you

Contemplating getting married again, probably to the same man, but in a dress from here

Sloane Square and Peter Jones, always comforting
