a trip to hudson with airbnb

last november we stayed at this beautifully rustic old farmhouse
we drank wine seated around the wood burner
pottered around warren street checking out the vintage stores and antique shops
ate at swoon, and drank coffee at swallow (fish & game next time please)
took a trip to the katerskills falls
and on the way home we popped into stone barns
I can't wait to go back...

(for more ideas around the hudson valley check out this guide by design*sponge)

obsessed with pinterest

Too much tequila last night. Definitely a Pinterest day. A virtual pin board, I find it so useful as a place to pin the things I love, inspirational styles, interior shots,  all the clothes I want to buy etc...there are lots of creative types on there who have an eye for beautiful things and you can follow them and re-pin their images too. Love it. You can follow me (secretstylist) and have a browse here.

quality street chic

The lovely Luci won the Oroton golden giveaway which was posted some time ago when Oroton landed in our beloved Hong Kong. The golden bag looked fab with her slinky purple dress at a recent wedding. Doesn't she look gorgeous? If not a little like a very glamorous Quality Street...stay tuned for more giveaways...coming soon...

golden giveaway worth HK$1800!

Australian Accessories emporium Oroton lands  in  Hong Kong later this month, in our very own IFC. The lovely people at Oroton have given secretstylist (exclusively) this divine bag to giveaway, and you lucky people get a chance to win it. Oroton has long been associated with mesh, in the nicest sense of the word. In 1954 they created a powder compact with an inlaid mesh lid. Then in the 1960’s Oroton’s enamel mesh bags became popular, gracing the arms of stylish women on glam nights out. Now we're embracing vintage again, Oroton have reinvented their mesh classic, designed to fit with the lifestyle of today’s modern fashionista. That is you by the way. I think it would look perfect with my dream purchase, the Lover lace dress (pictured below) and bold, high shoes in black, letting the gold stand out. How would you wear it?

To win this mesh jacquard across body bag (!) all you need to do is:
  • Go to Facebook
  • "Like" Secret Stylist Blog (if you haven't already, you naughty rascals)
  • In the comment box tell us what you would wear it with
  • We'll decide who wins and send it to you!
PLEASE NOTE:
This exclusive competition is for Hong Kong and China residents ONLY, sorry!
The deadline for comments is 6pm next Friday 17 September

To find out more about the Oroton brand, updates on stores and promotions, join their O’list.

racey lacy + win a stylish treat

After the resounding success of the vintage blue lace Betty Draper dress (Vogue London tweeted their approval, you can't get much better than that really) I have been hunting down more of this lacy loveliness. After admiring the navy lace jacket which my trendy friend Clare wears, I have finally found something similar. A lace jacket you cry. Hang on, think about it, its perfect for Hong Kong weather, a little bit of cover, a nod to the blazer trend, can be smart, but still cool, and of course a little bit of ventilation, which is key for these sweat inducing climes. Wear it with denim or silk trousers, black or grey t-shirt or stripes, and add chunky necklaces. I found this one at boutique Aalis, and if you click here to comment on her Facebook page you have a chance to win one of her gorgeous lacy t-shirts (above in grey). Aalis, 2/F, 31 Yiu Wa Street, Causeway Bay. Thanks Aalis, we love your style.
