play nicely whilst i'm away

I am off for a week or so so I thought I ought to leave you with two exciting retail adventures, one for the honkers people and one for the londonites, for Thursday 29th January. Honkers peeps you need to get over the fact the Chinese New Year holiday is over, be as strong as an OX (get it?) and visit Amandarling to perk up your spring/summer wardrobe. They are unveiling their stunning new collection, complete with very cool accessories from Australian designer Dinosaur Designs. London peeps you may be freezing and officially in depression but every cloud....and your luck is in, Rupert Sanderson, the rather hot, award winning shoe man, is having a secret sale from 10am - 8pm at his Bruton Place store (33 Bruton Place, Mayfair). All boots are going for £140 and all shoes are £90. Seriously, why wouldn't you?

we love a bit of scarf

Today we are worshipping the scarf. It gets the award for the most simple but effective accessory. My favourites are animal print, they've been around for a while but they never fail to excite an outfit and are still in strong demand. My poor girlfriend had her Zara leopard print number stolen from the bar at Typhoons. That well known fashionista haunt. A scarf is perfect for making a boring black outfit stand out, a white t-shirt sparkle and it covers all sorts of problems - cold nipples, a hickie and when my colleague Hannah shouts at a client it covers up her raging red anger rash. The best places in HK to purchase are the lanes, Lola & Syd sales, Zara and sometimes good old M&S. We have the perfect weather for them now and in these budget times a new one won't break the bank.

WHERE did you get that???!!

My favourite question. In this darling city it is hard to look unique. Everyone snaps up the same things from Zara/Club M/H&M... This is why we shop like a woman possessed whenever we're abroad. Well today is your lucky day. I've heard from a little bird that there is a very cool sample sale in our very own LKF. They have hundreds of items from designers around the globe. Browse the summer and winter collections from Lisa Ho, Louche, Trelise Cooper, Firetrap, David Lawrence, Lulu Peru, Perri Cutten, Verge and East.
When? Today 1pm to 8pm
Where? Unit A, 9th floor, Ho Lee Commercial Building, 40 D'Aguilar St, Central, Hong Kong. Contact 2869 4118

baby it's cold inside

I have spent the last few weeks huddled round two oil heaters in UGG boots, lashings of thermals and ski jumpers. It isn't a glam look. Much better to get yourself a beautiful cashmere throw and drape it around you, and your gorgeous naked hot man/furry animal/sofa. Thankfully this Saturday Serenity Fair are selling their wholesale cashmere with 70% off. There are bed blankets, throws, knitwear, scarves and travel sets to choose from, all made exclusively for boutiques and hotels around the world. So if I were you I'd grab a blanket, cuddle up and keep warm xx
When? Saturday 17 January, 11.30am - 4pm
Where? Hidden Vine Wine Bar, Basement 11 Staunton Street, Soho (next to Pure and Taco Loco)

bumplicious

There's a baby boom, everyone has been getting jiggy and our weekends are filled with baby showers. It is all very lovely, you can eat cake and have the perfect excuse not to make the tea but how on earth do you continue to look your stylish self? My first ever guest editor Sarah Flavell, co-founder of Curves Couture knows how...

Top tips to flatter those pregnancy curves
With a wealth of maternity clothing ranges now available, style-conscious pregnant women don’t have to sit on the fashion sidelines for the duration of their pregnancy. Here are some top tips to keep you looking glam while your curves grow.

Great Maternity Jeans - don’t go for those with large waistbands that stretch over your pregnant tummy, these will only irritate the delicate skin there. Go for low-slung jeans with stretch jersey ribbed elasticated waistbands: Zara, Next and Crave Maternity do great ones. Style with a fitted t-shirt and accessorise with a gorgeous satin maman-obi sash belt from
Curves Couture for a fashionable, on-trend look.

Fitted tops –ruched, bandeau, cami, wrap or plain t-shirt: get a top that accentuates your bump rather than drowns it. Worn with jeans, smooth line trousers or a maternity pencil skirt, there are great ranges to be found at Isabella Oliver, Sonovaso, Blossom, Homemummy and H&M.

Dresses – Wrap, Tunic, Maxi or Grecian this trend is great for any pregnant woman. Team a Tunic dress with coloured tights, leggings or funky boots; a Wrap dress is great for the office or dressed up for the evening. The Maxi and Grecian style dresses worn with a shrug or bolero jacket are the perfect party pieces. Isabella Oliver and Push Maternity offer some of the best styles.

Layers - invest in some long ruched camisole tops, this simple jersey base will allow you to layer other t-shirts, jackets, shrugs, form-fitting jumpers or wrap dresses for that luxe layered look and the longer length gives your bump plenty of cover and extra warmth!

Lingerie – good underwear is vital during pregnancy, it should feel comforting and look feminine, not frumpy and beige! HOTmilk is a luxurious, sexy maternity lingerie range from New Zealand that is not only comfortable and stylish but celebrates those pregnancy curves!

what is gold, superbly comfortable and a bit sheep like?

Oh my lord it is January and a Monday, possibly the most depressing day on earth. No one is eating, drinking, shopping or spending any money. The world is about to implode, but hang on, check out these beauties!! UGGS are the most amazing things on earth, I don't care if they are cool or not cool or if Kate wears them to the pub or to the loo. They are the closest you get to walking around in your duvet. Amazing. They remind me of babies prams that you want to climb into when you are hungover. And now...now they have them in metallic GOLD! I might just explode. The 09 budget can start in February.
