sweet bea

I just met the lovely Beatrix Ong, what a sweetie she was. She was very excited to be in Hong Kong for her cousin's wedding, she's packed in a trip to Sai Kung to see the Reef Surf Competition, and of course, there's the pop-up store at glam space, The Space. If she had to choose, her faves from her Autumn/Winter collection would be Lets Dance, inspired by Bowie, and the Isolde (pictured below). She tells me the Beatrix Ong wearer can be anyone, from hardcore fashionistas, who love her Dover Street Market designs, to "sweet older ladies". She's just finalised her Autumn/Winter 2011 collection and she is predicting a trend for slicker, sharper designs, more minimalism...but also a bit sexier...sounds intriguing. Having done some fab collaborations she would love to work with an artist on a shoe for her next project, and if she has to choose one person to design a shoe for it would be, guess who, Mr Bowie. She loves Bowie. Her fave stores at the moment are....London - her own! The brand new boutique in Chelsea...New York - she loves to browse in Gallagher’s Art & Fashion Gallery....Hong Kong - she enjoys hunting round the lanes looking at the quirky hardware shops, and then likes to pop into the China Tee Club. See my picks from her stunning collection here, you can try them on tonight at her pop-up store, from 6.30pm at The Space, 210 Hollywood Road. See you there.
