new years resolutions - tick
Loving this idea...take along 5 pieces of clothing or accessories (so could be belts shoes etc, just make sure they are nice and clean) and swap them for something new. You get a new outfit, house your unloved items, meet nice people and do something for charity (leftover goods are going to the Salvation Army). That covers pretty much all your new years resolutions and some, in one night. Pop in with your bag of goodies and HK$60 (entrance fee includes a drink) on Thursday 4th February from 7-10pm at the Culture Club, 15 Elgin Street. Contact sam_mcdaid@yahoo.co.uk or aegbeech@googlemail.com for more info.

Hi,
I just came back from a trip to Singapore, visited their Haji Lane and pretty much fell in love. Now I'm back home (Hong Kong), there's an empty feeling inside me.
Do you know if there are any similar shops/streets in HK? If you haven't visited Haji Lane, it's got lots of quirky boutique stores with vintage style clothing and a fantastic selection of bags at reasonable prices (I'm a student, so of course money is an issue!) - I bought two gorgeous smart summer dresses for about HKD$500.
Oh, and charity/vintage store shopping? I've heard here's really not the place to do so but any 'secret' tips?
Thanks.
